I'm just confused as to what the concern is. If we agree that people click on anything on the internet at their own risk and that we do have good intentions in the way we write our ToS, what's the problem exactly?

It's: "Advertising on platforms that may not have sane good intentions."

I'm not asking to kill TMW advertising but I'd love to see it done in a more responsible way.
In modern times of indiscriminate surveillance I know that I'm asking a lot, but please try.

My point is that your standards for privacy are so high that being that zealous would indeed kill marketing. Libre alternatives are often lower quality and not very popular. I tend to always favour libre software when it is functionally competitive, but the idea of advertising on strict libre principles is too limiting and frankly not in line with our principles. TMW is pro-Libre, not all-Libre.

Without real needs and contributors hardly libre software evolves into a better one. TMW is no exception.

Even not adding ads, porn, hentai, premium add-ons, blood, violence, profanity, tracking, trend analisys and whatsoever should be very limiting when it comes to marketing.
